Asset Protection & Compliance Officer
- Temporary Full-Time position - 11 month Parental Leave backfill
- Band 5 salary range of between $80,689.15 and $91,882.63 per annum plus 12% super and annual leave loading.
- Located at 32 Civic Drive, Greensborough VIC 3088

About the role:
Are you passionate about protecting public assets and ensuring safe, compliant development outcomes? We are currently seeking a temporary full-time Asset Protection & Compliance Officer to join our Building Services Team within the Planning, Environment and Strategy Unit. This is a pivotal role focused on safeguarding Council assets, supporting community safety, and delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused statutory building services in line with legislative and local law requirements.
A typical day might include:
- Protect Council assets and public safety by monitoring and enforcing compliance with Council's General Local Law 1, Building Regulations 2018, Road Management Act consents, development permits, road occupation permits, and other relevant legislation.
- Provide clear education, advice and guidance to property owners, builders, developers and the community regarding building site control, asset protection and compliance obligations.
- Proactively identify, inspect and monitor third‑party works that may impact Council assets, ensuring appropriate controls, compliance measures and rectification where required.
- Deliver technical and administrative support to the Building Services team, contributing to efficient approvals, inspections, reporting and enforcement outcomes.
- Provide a high standard of customer service, exercising sound judgement, integrity and accountability while responding to enquiries and compliance matters within agreed timeframes and Council standards.
What you will bring to the role:
- High level of verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills to resolve disputes
- Investigative and enforcement skills
- Ability to exercise personal judgement within agreed standards to respond to a request within an agreed and reasonable time frame
- IT/ computer skills -Word/Excel/Outlook/Windows at a basic level. a working knowledge & use of Pathway, Content Manager, & GIS mapping systems.
